According to Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the US airstrike in the region – which the US Pentagon claims had killed Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour – was against international law.

The Pakistani Airstrike by drones was praised by the Obama Administration. According to US President Barack Obam, the Taliban threat posed a grave danger to Afghanistan-based US forces.

According to Ali Khan, the violation of Pakistan’s airspace could mean “serious implications” for the two countries’ relationship. Without following the regulations, Ali Khan said “there will be the law of the jungle in the world.”

He added:

“I want to state that the government of Pakistan, regardless of the target, strongly condemns this drone attack,” said Mr. Khan. “The justification provided by America to the world for this drone attack is illegal, unjustified, unacceptable, against Pakistan’s independence and sovereignty, and completely against the U.N. Charter and international law.”

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister is working to verify whether the body of Mullah Mansour could be found. DNA tests were under way as a family member of Mansour went to claim his body.

Pakistan admitted once that Mansour had visited Pakistan from time to time. Both Kabul and Washington had urged Islamabad to bring Mansour forward to negotiate or Islamabad must take action against Mansour.

The killing of Mansour could further complicate matters between the US and the Taliban according to Khan.
